Web Development

My portfolio of Web Design, Wordpress themes and widgets (plugins) as well as SMF themes I have created.

I have been designing and coding my own websites for around ten years now. I started out in plain old HTML version 3.2 developing local host self-interest pages and tools, and expanded onto the internet in 2000 with a website for my university friends and to start sharing photographs.

In 2005 I launched this site, which I consider to be my "first" website, since then I have created several others. I use PHP and mySql either hand coding bespoke sites or creating websites using Wordpress (blogging software and content management system) or SMF (forum software).

In January 2007 I became a professional web developer, working for a large work wear manufacturer, coding anything that is internet related (corporate websites, online trading, cXML, B2B, Punchout, to name a few buzzwords).

This is my portfolio of web design, customisation and plugin/addon creation.

I have had quite a few emails asking what Wordpress theme this site is based on and how I structure the site within Wordpress. Well, the truth is that Wordpress is only used for the blog page, the rest of the site is a completely bespoke system developed by myself in PHP. I then created a Wordpress theme that seamlessly integrates with the style of the website making the whole site transparent. I must have done a good job if people can't tell the difference between my code and that of Wordpress!

Intranet Knowledgebase

SMF Themes Client required a new web-based system for maintaining a 'knowledge base' in various sections with user level and group level permissions, 'fancy' editor and ability for easy modification and threaded updates. Existing system used a category->subject layout, so SMF forum was similar layout. A lot of SMF features, auch as "who's online" and statistics were removed by request. The theme developed also integrated TinyMCE with SMF for Microsoft Word like editing and included support for inline images with integrated image upload / file hosting screens accessible from within TinyMCE.
Theme was based on the Oxygen SMF theme.
