My Photographic Equipment

I have been taking photos since a very early age, using compact and SLR film cameras. I bought my first digital camera back in 1996.

My first digital camera was a Fuji DS7, a 307,200 pixel (0.3 mega pixel). It was a fairly good camera, but not long after I bought it the transfer lead broke off inside the camera. When I returned it to the store, the camera had been discontinued and they had no more stock, so instead they upgraded me to the DX7 free of charge.

Although this camera was still a 0.3 mega pixel, it had much more memory and used a less harsh jpeg format so the overall quality was far superior. It had a ISO 150. 38mm f/3.1 fixed focus lens, and it served me well until 2002 when a little accident happened to it.

Time then to get another camera, by this time I was hooked on the digital format for ease of use and convenience. In keeping with the Fuji thing I had going I bought the Fuji S602z. This was a big step forward in terms of quality and features. This camera had all the bells and whistles of the time, including 6x optical zoom, manual and auto focus, program modes and a host of other features. This camera was heavily used as my interest in photography, and my experience, grew. This was a very good all round camera, I used it for everyday shots, close-up macro work and astrophotography. Unfortunately in early 2006 I was a victim of a serious car crash and the camera was damaged beyond repair.

Armed with a greater photographic understanding and plenty of experience I set about researching for a new camera to replace the old Fuji. I narrowed the list down to the Sony R1, Fuji S9500 and the Canon 350d. In the end the Canon's SLR lenses and the CMOS chip won me over and in May 2006 I was an owner of a new Canon EOS 350d SLR and I have been very pleased with the camera.

All the specs for the Canon 350d can be found on the Digital Photography Review website.
